It's been quite a year since we hosted MaxFest@Home. Working remotely was still pretty new last June, but our users discovered that Maxient made this transition easier. While many have returned to their offices on campus, just as many are still working from home, or other locations, and so we are presenting MaxFest in a free, virtual format for another year.
This experience will offer some MaxFest staples, like a Welcome Session from Co-owners Aaron and Candice Hark, discussion of some upcoming features, and our Development Forum where we gather your input about potential features. Additionally, we will host a discussion with some Maxient users from across the country about their use of Maxient and two concurrent sessions with a variety of topics.

We're a Maxient Campus - Managing More Than You Imagined in Maxient - Erin Breiner (North Carolina State University)
Maxient is recognized as the leader in student behavior management software, but do you know the various techniques to truly maximize your use of the system to do more for your campus? For over a decade, NC State has evolved the use of Maxient with multiple campus partners to produce innovative ways to use the system for internal administrative processes and external communication to the University community (and beyond), which requires supreme organizational and management skills by the Level 5 users. This session focuses on these initiatives and how to build them for your campus, as well as implement a method of auditing Maxient to make sure it is running at peak efficiency.
Data, Queries, and Batching, Oh My! - Sarah Koukal (Maxient)
Become a custom analytic reporting wizard - no ruby slippers required! Take a trip behind the custom analytics curtain to learn the basics (plus some tips and tricks) for running custom analytics. You'll even learn how to leverage custom analytics to make batch changes to cases!
Let's Do the Time Warp Again - Recent New Features (Colleen Ryan and Shalin Shah, Maxient)
Let's face it, 2020 was a year many of us had more on our minds than managing Maxient. So, if you missed the features we released that year, we don’t blame you! During this session, we will re-introduce you to some of the more recent system improvements. Join us to learn more about: notifications, adding multiple individual notes at once, preferred name, pronouns/honorifics, email language for cc’s and memos, newly added merge fields and more!
Using Case Resolution Forms (CRFs) to Support a Variety of Case Types (Lance Watson, Maxient)
Completing the Case Resolution Form (CRF) will help you tell the story of the work you do by ensuring your resolution data is entered consistently and efficiently. If you're wondering how resolutions, sanctions, and rationales might apply to your process, we'll show you why the CRF is a great tool to track all the decisions you make, conduct or otherwise. Come learn how the CRF is designed to make your process more efficient in completing your sanction detail fields, sending automated sanction alerts, closing your cases, and can even be completed remotely when you can't meet with someone in person. Institutions that are not using the CRF regularly would benefit from this session!
Effective Communication: Managing Letters Templates and Forms (Jason Kistler, Maxient)
Effective communication is crucial to any process. The ability to quickly and easily draft correspondence to involved parties is vital for any administrator in any fast-paced environment. With many demands on your time, using your Maxient letter templates to send correspondence provides confidence that what you are sending is accurate and consistent without spending significant time editing or rewriting. In this session, we will review the Manage Letters screen focusing on building letter templates, and uploading forms and letterhead.
Seize the Data: Using Analytics to Enhance Your Annual Report (Shalin Shah, Maxient and Nick Tumolo, Villanova)
The summer - peace, quiet, and time for a vacation, right? Not until you complete that annual report. Your Maxient system has more than 75 analytics to pull valuable, timely data - yet, for many of us, the only time we have to take advantage of this information is when we write our annual report. This session will explore how Maxient's analytics can help compile data and teach you to leverage these powerful tools to get meaningful information to share, analyze, and learn from. Join us as we illustrate processes and analytics which Villanova has used to take full advantage of the data that flows through Maxient. We will also discuss recently updated analytics, filtering tools, and how to conduct a system health check.
Exploring New Letter Features (Miles Komuves, Maxient)
Sending letters in Maxient has never been easier and more customizable. New letters features will give you more flexibility in how letters are signed, how attachments are organized, as well as the ability to adjust the email communication to the recipients. Maxient veterans and newcomers alike will learn how to make the most of these new features in actual practice!
Insights and Recommendations for Training Staff (Jason Andrews, Maxient)
Whether you are training new employees or existing users for a new process that you are incorporating into Maxient, this session will share suggestions to successfully train those individuals on the software. We'll review the use of test IRs and cases, sending test letters, and the resources, including videos and webinars, at your disposal in the Help Forums.
Building a Strong Foundation: IR Layout Basics (Amber Keen Ellis, Maxient)
Incident Reports are the foundation from which you will typically build cases. Developing an effective Incident Report starts with the building blocks you find in the IR Layout template. In this session, we will cover IR Layout basics, including some tips and tricks for getting the most information from your reporters. We will also briefly cover what should be collected using a Maxient IR, and what things might be better built and tracked elsewhere.
Clery Configuration for Successful Clery Reporting (Michael Ginsburg, Maxient and Dr. Michael DeBowes, D. Stafford & Associates)
Is your system in its best shape for running your Annual Security Report for Maxient cases? Join us to find out! We will review Clery settings on the Configuration screen as well as running the Clery Crosscheck Report and the Clery Report.
This closing presentation will reveal what features could be developed in Maxient. We will collect ideas for consideration via this form: MaxFest Anywhere Development Forum Suggestions and review them before selecting a number of them to present during this event and ask you to provide feedback via a poll. We will collect suggestions through June 14, 2021.
Captions will be available for each of the virtual sessions. If you need an accommodation other than captions, please indicate below.
